The OOPS kernel module can generate some kernel messages, or cause a real kernel panic with an OOPS trace. It can be useful for testing syslog, netconsole, netdump, kdump etc.
cat /proc/oops_log will produce log/console entries at different priority levels, from EMERG down to DEBUG.
cat /proc/oops_crash will really, truly, positively crash the system and cause an OOPS trace and kernel panic. You have been warned.
