After school
Where to next?
Using the Wits clusterIf you want to continue with the exercises / play around with submitting jobs etc. on the Wits cluster, we will have a ssh login available to you. Connectivity might be a bit unreliable over the next week or two, because we need to do some system maintenance. We will keep this page updated with details as they become available. Contact Norman Ives at norman.ives@gmail.com for more information.
Getting involved in the OSG
The online version of the grid school lab sessions can be found at http://opensciencegrid.org/OnlineGridCourse.
If you would like to become more involved in the OSG (either gaining direct access from your machine to OSG resources, or by connecting your cluster to the OSG), send an email to Ben Clifford, at benc@ci.uchicago.edu.
Getting involved in the SA national grid
The best person to chat to is Bruce Becker (bruce.becker@ca.infn.it).
There are several training sessions occurring in the near future, including
- * User
- * Application porting
- * Site administration
There is a training session that is on next week (the week of the 28th of July), see indico.ct.infn.it/conferenceDisplay.py?confId=67. After that, there are is an admin training session in Lyon in September, and then user/admin training in Gauteng in October. More sessions will follow in November and December, and in 2009.
If you would like to get involved in the discussion around setting up virtual organisations (VOs), contact either Bruce Becker (bruce.becker@ca.infn.it), or Albert Gazendam (agazendam@csir.co.za).
Other supercomputing and grid resources
If you have any interest in video broadcast of a course in "Supercomputing in plain English", see http://www.oscer.ou.edu/education.php. If you are interested in utilising Windows machines with a coLinux Condor pool, see http://www.oscer.ou.edu/CondorInstall/condor_colinux_howto.php. Contact Horst Severini at hs@nhn.ou.edu for more information. The main OSCER (OU Supercomputing Center for Education and Research) site can be found at http://www.oscer.ou.edu.
DOSAR is a grass roots grid organisation that is dedicated to getting people involved in grid computing. See http://www-hep.uta.edu/dosar.
