Install a VM like Virtual box
Get the linux image CernVM (OVA) from CernVM web page (use the stable version, not the beta version!!)

There is no need to mount Virtualbox Guest additions image onto VM as CernVM is preloaded with it.
When sharing a folder, go to Settings --> Shared folders tab.
Click on the add file button and specify the path to the folder that you want to share.
Check "Make Permanent" and leave the rest of the options unchecked.
After booting the VM, the shared folder will be located under /mnt/shared/.
