PSI Group Server

The PSI Server is now running on what used to be netdata (Pentium 4 2.4 GHz). It is located in the Physics department, at the address 146.141.41.19

Available services:

• Web - mostly empty, http://psi.phys.wits.ac.za/
• wiki - OK http://psi.phys.wits.ac.za/wiki
• mail (SMTP,IMAPS) - OK
• Web-mail (SquirrelMail) - OK https://psi.phys.wits.ac.za/webmail
• Mailing lists (Mailman) - OK https://psi.phys.wits.ac.za/mailman/listinfo
• Unix file server (NFS) - OK
• Unix authentication (NIS) - OK
  • make a backup NIS server @iThemba
• Windows file server (SMB/CIFS) - To Do

• Rember to run /var/yp/MakeFile after changing something that is propagated by yp to client servers.

sudo make -C /var/yp

Changing forwarding properties

The configuration to forward mail to old schonlan.src.wits.ac.za and src.wits.ac.za mail addresses is contained in /etc/postfix/virtual. Edit this file then do

sudo /usr/sbin/postmap /etc/postfix/virtual
sudo /etc/init.d/postfix reload
